This small Franciscan church in Acre, Israel, caught my attention. The city of Acre has had many incarnations over the years, and this Church of St John the Baptist, built in 1737, has likewise experienced many moods. It is tucked in a corner right on the seawall close to the lighthouse, in what is now primarily an Arab community. One photograph (except for the back cover, which shows the church from the outside), but manipulated to emphasize different aspects of this small, tidy, and peaceful haven.
