Squatchin' With Ted

Back in 2021-2022, I collect many stories from a neurodivergent kindergartener that I had been working with, Teddy, and compiled them as a very short story for him and his family. He loves monsters, and his favorite is Bigfoot! I saw a lot of my younger self within him, and so he inspired me to throw together a book. Using his art and my own, I threw together Squatchin' With Ted. Although originally just a gift for the Frye family, I wanted to share the story with the world. So, I got permission from the parents to even publish it. I asked Teddy's mother, Sabrina, to talk about the book, and I feel she best worded the description of the book.

Squatchin’ with Ted is more than a story about a father and son’s close encounter with BigFoot. The story demonstrates how beautifully and easily the imagination can unfold when an author is willing to step inside the world of a neurodivergent child. Rather than suppressing a child's obsession as it sometimes feels the world is telling us to do, my son’s fascination with the creature has been fashioned into something that I hope others will enjoy as much as I do.
