Hello, My name is Kellee Jo Callender who lives in Rapid City, South Dakota. I am writing and illustrating my first children's book. As far back as my childhood, I was interested in writing children's fantasy stories and loved doing all kinds of artwork. Most of the time, my stories were inspired by nature. It's kind of funny how it all started. When I was in 6th grade, I won a written story contest among four other classrooms. The prinicipal came in and asked all four classrooms to write a make-believe story with ourselves in it and art work could apply. At that moment, I took that and ran with it. I immediately wrote a story about the characters of Sesame Street and myself, as if we grew up together for years. Later, at a school pep assembly, the principal announced the winner. I was a very shy girl, but that moment of winning gave me self confidence. I have continued the love of writing and painting, and finally, writing my first children's book at the age of 46. Hope you enjoy!
