This is the first compilation of many notes, generally handwritten, from grateful patients and others. It is incomplete because Dr. Schermer is still practicing ophthalmology and because many of the notes are hiding in boxes buried in storage or in his garage.

Dr. Michael Jacob Schermer was born in Detroit Michigan. He has practiced ophthalmology in Sacramento California since 1976. In 1983 he met a man who would have a profound influence on his practice and therefore his life. This was William Sullivan the founder of Executive Development Center of Boston. Mr. Sullivan encouraged Dr. Schermer to post in his waiting room notes from appreciative patients. Over the years, Dr. Schermer has saved these thousands of notes. At the end of each year he put all of the notes into an envelope marked with the year they were received. These envelops went into boxes that ended up in storage or his garage. Some may have been lost. This book is missing at least 13 years.
In 2014 with the very important help of Estelle Beasley he was able to compile a book containing many of the most sincere of these notes of appreciation.
As of September 2014 he is still actively involved with his practice although he stopped doing cataract and lasik..
