Diego Santillanes is a 4th grader who likes animals and reading. His inspiration for Chicken-in-a-Box is an actual hen that adopted his grandparents. Unlike the book character, the real Chicken-in-a-Box hardly ever has adventures because she rarely leaves her cardboard box!
