This short story is my first children's book. I wrote it while visiting my homeland of Greece. With thoughts of life, my journeys, my children and grandchildren One night I heard the soft croaking of frogs in a swamp near by. The sound kept me awake and I started writing. As I remembered simpler times when we had little in material things I also remembered the love that created such a strong bond for my family and taught me such good values. Coming to America gave me opportunities that allowed me to give my children and grandchildren more than I had. Even though we had more things I still remembered to teach them about God and about giving to others and most of all how to be kind and humble. Now that my children and grandchildren are adults I can see I have done a good job in teaching them to keep life simple and to try and find good in everyone. This book is story about how greed can be destructive and reminds us to remain humble and good to one another.

Born in Greece in 1934 during a time of war and poverty, I am the youngest of three children. I know what it is like to have very little in life and I have learned to appreciate all the gifts that were granted to me by God. I was blessed with wonderful parents who made every sacrifice to help me be the woman I've become. My blessings continued with the love of my wonderful uncle who had the ability to send me to America and build my future. It was in America that I met my best friend, my husband Michael and that was when my journey began. I was blessed with two beautiful daughters who gave me six grandchildren, the jewels of my life. Then I was blessed again when my granddaughter, my namesake gave my the ultimate gift of a great grandson. Through the years since I was a young girl I put my thoughts into words of poetry and short stories in both English and Greek. With the help of my oldest daughter we transcribed these writings. This is my first children's book.
