Non-fiction short story of people and events leading up to an improbable little league baseball game set in a small town along the New Jersey shore in 1969. Idyllic Monmouth Beach is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the tumultuous 1960’s, holding fast to the way things have always been, until a little league baseball game momentarily upsets the balance. First person tale from a twelve year old boy in a simpler time, when kids were still kids and not everybody got a trophy. Key adult character development seasoned with a dose of family dysfunction. Includes a review by American sportswriter Frank Deford.
