The Giver is about a community that is totally different then any community that you have been in. You have been in a community that you got to pick you job and you got to pick who you got to marry and if you want to have kids you have them yourself they arent assigned to you. Well in this community it is not like that. There community has people pick there jobs for them and they assign you a family but you have to send them a request saying that you want a family. Read the book to figure out what job Jonas gets assigned.

Lois Lowry has four kids and she lives in Cambridges Massachettes. She didn't start writting professally intil her mid-30's. At the age of 17 Lowry attended Brown unniversity where she majored in writting. At the age of 19 she got married. She had four children before the age of 25. Around that time she went back to school and got her unergraduate degree from the university of Maine.
