The Henry W. Moore School Butterfly Garden - How Does Your Garden Grow?

In the beginning…..

This is the story of the butterfly garden we created at the entrance of the school.

Moore School is a K-8 public school located at 12 Deerfield Road in Candia, NH. It serves a community of close to 4,000 people in the southern part of New Hampshire.

I began my professional teaching career at the Henry W. Moore School in the fall of 1994. When I first started working there, I always noticed how drab and unattractive the front area of the school was. It was basically an empty expanse of dirt and sparse grass. In the fall several fresh colorful mums might be placed at the base of the flagpole. Otherwise, that was it.
