Born in Memphis, TN Feburary 14, 1959, To Leroy and Essie Sumlin but reared by his uncle and aunt Mrs.Winnie M.Johnson and the late Rev.Clarence L.Johnson both of Memphis, TN. Jay is married to Yolanda T. Sumlin and they have 3 kids.
