Jay Smoove is an internationally recognized entertainment phenomenon in the making. As an artist, writer, dancer, illusionist, and humanitarian, he is known for his explosive fire breathing performances.
His niche is combining music with illusion to create magical eye-popping effects. His sound is not to be boxed into one category; instead Jay Smoove offers a sense of versatility with each record. From R&B, to Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal and even Country music, he brings forth the element of surprise for himself and his fans.
Since birth, music has been a major part of his life. His father was a member of a gospel band and his mother was the praise and worship leader of the church they attended.
Before he became Jay Smoove, he was little Joshua Moreland, named after a biblical hero. Back then, he was just a boy with a dream and vision to be something "Great". He went from singing in the shower as a little boy to singing in the adult church choir at the age of 9. He studied legendary icons such as Michael Jackson, James Brown, Al Green and Elvis Presley.
In 2003, he released an independent album titled "My Heart 2 Yours." His drive and determination has landed him exceptional opportunities such as performing on the nationally televised show American Idol in 2008.
In order to perfect his craft, he began working with one of the best vocal coaches in the business, Jan Smith and world renowned choreographers such as Kenneth Fowler and Sean Green.
Jay Smoove has toured across the world, opening for the likes of Lil' Jon, Fat Joe, Ginuwine, Mario, Jay Sean, Jo Jo and Rick Ross to name a few.
He is very passionate in being a positive influence and serving his purpose in the world. Giving his time, energy and heart to organizations such as the AIDS Foundation, Sickle Cell Foundation, Cancer Society, Red Cross, Best Buddies International and Ronald McDonald House, he has touched the lives of many people.
Jay Smoove is currently in the studio recording his upcoming album. With this project, he's had the privilege of working with world renowned producer Jake "The Great" Gosling in the legendary West Lake Studios. (Studio that Michael Jackson recorded the "Thriller" Album).
His first Single titled "Time Out" is receiving much support across the country and is now available on itunes.
