Shelby Strogen was born and raised in Shakopee, Minnesota. She got the idea of writing "Secrets Can Kill" from playing the Nancy Drew game of the same name. "While I was playing the game, I really felt like a detective." she commented "In fact, it made me wanted to write a book about my adventures solving the mystery.". Right now, Shelby lives at home with her mother, Jennifer, Stepfather, Pete, and younger sister, Calli.
