This story is about a girl who is starting a new school year. She has trouble getting used to school, which is why her teacher always says, "It's time to learn until it's spring. It's time to get back into the swing of things."

I am a fourth grade teacher in Maine. I was inspired to write this book because I noticed how my own students have had a hard time adjusting to a new school year and remembering how hard it was for me. I also have a love of poetry and believe that students can remember what they read through rhythm, rhyme, repetition and sequence. My beliefs, inspiration and love for poetry have allowed me to create, The Swing of Things.
