Young Aaron loves the swamp. It's his favorite place to be. The swamp is his place to relax and think. Sometimes, Aaron will speak to the swamp. And sometimes, the swamp will speak back. But soon, Aaron stops visiting the swamp like he used to. He abandoned the swamp. But one day, Aaron decides to go back. He talks and talks to the swamp about all the things he's been through in the past several years. But the swamp doesn't talk back. Aaron feels abandoned. One day, he sees a girl sitting on the edge of the swamp. She spoke to the swamp, and the swamp spoke back. But soon she abandoned the swamp as well. At the sound of the swamp's voice, Aaron grew sad. He pleaded with the swamp to speak to him, and at last, it did. Aaron decided he would never turn his back on the swamp again. He needed the swamp. And the swamp needed him.

Maddie Cunningham wrote her first book at thirteen years old. She enjoys being around family and friends, but mostly children.
