The Transylvanian Years - The Schwarz-Szonyi family Legacy

This illustrated family history brings together the stories, photographs, and records of the Schwarz–Szőnyi family, whose roots lie in Nagybánya, Transylvania. At its heart is Dr. Zoltán Sándor Szőnyi, a young painter who became a physician, and the family whose lives crossed a time of war and changing borders.

Drawing on family memories, testimony, and archival research, I gathered these pages to preserve the people behind the names—their creativity, their relationships, and the legacy they passed on to us. It is a personal invitation to the next generation to know where we came from and to keep these stories alive.
