Like many companies, Tambor started with a passion. A passion that began with my first taste of real açaà while living in south Brazil. That amazing blend of exotic berry flavor and chocolate was like nothing I had ever experienced. From the very first taste, I was hooked. It wasn’t long until I noticed that every corner in town and every beach bar was serving this refreshing smoothie or Tigela de Açaà (bowl of açaÃ). The locals couldn’t get enough! I had to find out what the stuff was so I started asking around town. Once I found out that the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu family from Rio de Janeiro had been eating açaà for decades because of its amazing health benefits and sustained natural energy, I was convinced. It seemed to good to be true. Energizing, refreshing, filling, super-tasty and a Super-Food ! I couldn’t wait to tell the boys back home in Hawaii.
So just like that, the grass roots Tambor seed was planted. The plan was simple: Bring the real deal, quality açaà pulp back home to Hawaii and share it with the people.
After a year in Brazil and plenty of planning time, I was back home in Hawaii searching for start-up capital. Some say that this is the hardest part of starting a business. For us, we were blessed with the right people in the right places that believed in our mission. After a trip to Brazil to make the connection, and a long year of setting up the foundation, our first order of Tambor Açaà was on the way.
After only 6 months, the açaà buzz is growing stronger with every day. While working hard to share our passion of açaà with new people, we are happy to see that Tambor Açaà is starting to get recognized for its rich taste and premium quality that only can only be found in Brazil.
