The book is about two middle age men who are gay, and they have a very funny sense of humour but a weird relationship. They have a friends as well but Freddie's mum has died.
They meet a guy (Ash) how lives in a flat just above them and they get to know him very quickly. They also have a friend called Violet which flirts a lot with Ash.
