This is the story of my great grandfather, his family, and how he arrived in Daviess County, Missouri, to help move a town. He started out in Ohio, coming with his father and mother to Missouri around 1840. He settled in Ray County, Missouri, but came to Pattonsburg, Missouri, in 1875 to move the town to a new location to be near the railroad. He was a teamster who hauled lumber to build the new town. He lost his wife soon after the new town of Elm Flat, later to be called Pattonsburg, was built. He was left with four sons and a daughter to look after. Several years later, he married a widow who gave him three more children. The youngest of these was Madie, my grandmother. He was 72 at the time of her birth and only lived a few more years. His wife Minerva was left to raise the family.
This book also explores the ancestors of Jonas Walker, who lived in Ohio and before that, Pennsylvania. These ancestors were of Scot-Irish and German descent, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Jerry Ann Robbins was born in Pattonsburg, Missouri. She learned very little as a child growing up about her family simply because it wasn't mentioned. However, the story of her grandfather dying in a train wreck when her mother was 12 did reach her, and once on a Memorial Day trip to an old cemetery, her grandmother Madie mentioned a few things about her family, that she had lost her mother when she was a young woman and something about her father driving a wagon. It wasn't until much later in life that she began her genealogical project and began to sort things out that she realized her great grandfather had been a teamster and had died when her grandmother was little. There are still many avenues to explore, but this is the Walker family history as it stands so far, from studying census and other records. All help in completing this work has been appreciated.
