I was trying to read an article regarding my experience of being a “Teen Mom” and I found research on a 2016 study by the United Nations Population Fund.
Over 10 years, 1.2 million Filipina girls between the ages of 10 and 19 have had a child. That's a rate of 24 babies per hour.
And the rate of teenage pregnancy is rising. According to the most recent data, collected every 10 years, in 2002, 6.3 percent of teenagers were pregnant; by 2013 it had gone up to 13.6 percent. Although this is a big and sensitive issue in our country since this needs a lot of concern on sex education, contraceptives, and the role of the parents to educate and give enough love to their children at home which I did not receive from my family before.
I wanted to share my own life experience as a young mom as well for the youth awareness of why they should not rush into early marriage to avoid regret in life because at the end of the day you will become parents too but the big question is are we..
