Amalie A. Aseltine
About Author:
I taught at International schools from 1974-2016 from Sapporo and Tokyo to Rangoon, from Dongdukchon to Medan, from Bangkok to Beijing (with six years teaching at the Nevada State Prison). I retired from teaching at 69 and have lived since then near Chicago and near San Francisco.
In 1997, after my husband Roger died, I started to write poetry. After visits to the Shwedagon Pagoda, I began a project that eventually comprised six related manuscripts. In addition, I have written a memoir of my experiences as an ex-pat working overseas. I have also completed manuscripts on the 2021 Spring Revolution in Myanmar and on Buddhism in Theravada countries. My current writing focuses on pilgrimages of the dharmic religions.
I have three grown children (Ian, Charlotte, Rachel) and miss Mercutio and Puck (two Beijing cats) and George (the Chicago street cat). If I could have, I would have bought a cottage in the west of Ireland and retired there.
