Regina Amaranta Xelhuantzi, Born In Puebla, Mexico. On October 12, 1989. Brought to Los Angeles, California in August of 1995. Where she attended Buchanan Elementary School, Luther Burbank Middle School, and Graduated class 2007 from Benjamin Franklin High School. “As a child brought over from a different country, I faced a language barrier. Having to adapt was not easy, I don't even remember having friends. I liked keeping to myself and hardly even spoke. It wasn't till 9th grade when my Homeroom teacher Mr. Veltran, Had us enter a poetry contest, I realized how simple it was to communicate, using a writing method, and I could easily express emotion, it was something I found hard to do using any other method. English had never been my favorite subject in school, I always fell behind. But once I picked up that pen, I wrote on that paper all I had held, I couldn't stop, now I find myself writing a book, sharing my work, who would have known."
