K Rose was born in Harvey-Markham, Illinois on August 9, 1996. Her father joined the military shortly after she was born; as a result, she moved around a lot. At a young age, she developed a love for writing, particularly poetry. She holds herself as a spoken-word poet without a filter and an advocate for mental health awareness, as well as women’s rights. Growing up in black community, she has been denied the opportunity to publicly address her mental illness. Thus, she decided revisit and face the demons of her past by writing her latest book. With a poet’s voice and creative style, the truth of human existence shall arise from the ashes of a society that abandoned the girl who forgot how to smile.
