My name is Melanie Gregory. I currently attend Temple University and major in Early Childhood Education & Special Education. Writing this book for me was very important. I wanted to highlight different women who I felt are trailblazers and amazing women.

I wanted this book to specifically focus on African American Women who are writers, poets and activists. Women, who in their own way made a difference. Whether that was writing a book, making a film, being a Civil Rights Activist, writing a book or a story that challenges people to open their eyes. I hope that the young-girl African American readers know that it is possible to be a writer, poet, actress and use your platform to speak up about different issues and injustice going on in the world.
