This collection of stories attempts to answer a question. What is the shape of becoming? Imagine opening a tattered box of artifacts and souvenirs, evidence of lived experience over seven decades—not an extraordinary life, but not ordinary either. A bricolage of choice and chance shapes the process of becoming for each of us. A memoir is about arrival while glancing back to inquire "How did I get here?" These stories follow the thread of a few chosen moments for someone born in the middle of the last century, a woman who happens to be an artist. The shape of becoming is never solid. It is reflected back in every word and action. There is an idea in humanist psychology that the personal is most universal. This 92-page/26-image book is an offering in that spirit.
