Drabble is to novel as Haiku is to epic poem. I once read that clear writing represents clear thinking. One cannot write clearly if thoughts are muddled. If one’s writing is muddled, one’s thinking is either muddled or clear. Confused writing mocks one's clear thinking.
Accepting the challenge, work and discipline of writing a poem, haiku or Drabble helps one develop clear writing. If you can think, you can write. That’s why I enjoy writing Drabbles.
The Drabbles in this book are fiction. All are exactly one-hundred words excluding the title. Most are independent, having no connection to other Drabbles. However, when I wrote “Bernie’s” it unlocked thoughts of more related stories, so I wrote several Drabbles centered on the Donute Shoppe and gathered them together at the end of the book.
