Mythical creatures do roam the earth. The faries and the gnomes are on the verge of a horrific war, and the war can have negative effects on the world as a whole. When a young boy enters the woods and hears something flitting around a tree he hits it with his trusty little hammer- something he always carries around- and is surprised to come upon the home of the faries of lore. He kidnaps the queen that sends Matilda on a what seems like an endless journey in search of her queen before the gnomes destroy their home forever.
