As kids we could go to the park and come out with a new friend. Differences such as race, disabilities, height, and weight did not affect who our friends were. Kids embrace being different, being an individual was our goal. As we grow of course we don’t want to stand out, we don’t want to be “normal”. Kids embrace the things that make us differences, but what if your difference was something that could not be ignored? Kids who suffer from disabilities, from a learning disability, a physical disability or mental illness cannot ignore their differences and often it can be difficult to make friends. This book explored situations that kids with autism experience but just as the book says we all have things that make us uncomfortable. Even with a disability everyone can make friends and have fun. If you see someone is being left out or looks lonely, invite them to play, make them feel welcomed because everyone has feelings and a little different should not define a person.
