In late July 2010 in Houston, Texas, Myself, my husband and children were moving into a new apartment in Houston, Texas. Our neighbors right next door were the COOLEST people EVER. That is where Waunell (Nell) Pool lived, my now bestfriend, m.o.m. (my other mom), my mentor, my cooking teacher, my sounding board, advice giver, my all and everything. I met Mama Nell in late July 2010. She went from a complete stranger to new neighbor to my everything in less than 6 months. This book is dedicated to you Mama Nell. I love you! Thanks for all the recipes and the desire to wanna cook good recipes and the time and care you took to teach me.

Never been a big eater nor a very good preparer of meals, having had a harder up bringinh than normal, never really had the "chef type" mom to teach me. Not to mention I didn't really care as I was a rebellious child. Now 36 years old having raised five kids and still didn't have an index of recipes and meals collected in a recipe box or in a drawer in my kitchen like most. I took a great interest in cooking, baking, and recipes until I met the most wonderful lady in the whole world,who has changed my life in so many ways in such a very short time. Thanks Mama Nell! Once again you helped me to be able to do something I enjoy very,very much!
