Hixson Farms is located between Edwards and Bovina along the Big Black River in Mississippi. Mr. and Mrs. Hixson planned their small three acre farm for four years. They knew that they wanted to grow chemical and pesticide free. The first step was to learn what they could about naturally grown produce and what would be best grown in Mississippi. Once compiling a vast library on naturally grown farming and Farmers’ Markets they worked on their list. Mr. Hixson’s focus is to plant heirloom seeds to insure the quality and great taste. In the meantime Mrs. Hixson focused on herbs, old time recipes, and pottery. She now produces herb teas, mixed dry spices, pepper sauce, and hand made pottery.

This being their third year they have continued to double the planting area. They have built a clientele that includes a health food store in Florida, sell at the Farmers’ Market, and supply a couple of small restaurants. At the beginning of 2008 Hixson Farms received their Certified Naturally Grown status.
