This true story took place in late pioneer days of Ontario, Canada. Lena’s father taught her self-confidence by trusting his wise advice with farm animals and overcoming her fear of a large cantankerous goose. She did not harm the goose. She merely tamed him with firm control while her father oversaw the events.

Lena Barager Oxley, my beloved paternal grandmother, told me this story about her own life. She loved her father and his example helped her continued to keep a loving attitude toward God, family, and animals. She lived to be 97 years old. As a grandmother of Kurtis, Jack, Elise, Reagan, Harper, Baylor, and Isla, the author hopes this story serves to remind these wonderful children that many years ago, a loving father helped his little girl overcome her fear by teaching her to trust his advice. Lena was my father's mother. I loved my father and trusted his every word. May his loving example be passed down and win the hearts of each new generation to come.
