For many families in rural New Zealand, WW1 placed a terrible legacy upon young farmers who became soldiers and their loved ones. This journal follows the impact of WW1 upon the Hall family of Gapes Valley, South Canterbury, New Zealand. Four brothers, a sister's sweetheart and many friends from the local district fought in "The Great War" - on the Western Front, Gallipoli and the Sinai-Palestine conflict.

Lizzie and Daisy Hall kept postcards and letters sent from New Zealand to their brothers and friends fighting on the other side of the world. 100 years on, it is time to reflect, remember and share the tragedy that unfolded upon these men in battle and their families who waited for them.
