About the Book

I've written a collection of poems, affirmations, words of wisdom and reminders for those who may need it most. I discuss many different experiences, including heartbreak, love, death, sorrow, isolation, happiness, femininity and confusion.

Inspired by poets Rupi Kaur and Courtney Peppernell, I would read their books at night and admire how they both expressed their raw emotions through writing. I show how it's normal to feel a range of emotions at different moments in time. I've been inspired by friends, family and my own experiences so that each page is filled with the utmost love, respect, compassion and understanding.

This book is now yours. Scribble on it, draw pictures in it, highlight words you like, or keep it blank. The world is your oyster, and whilst you’re reading, I hope that you forget about the world outside and become entranced in the simple words as they float off each page.

Sometimes it’s easier to read emotions than to voice them aloud.

I am an 18 year old girl from Durham, England who has become an avid writer through the course of the coronavirus pandemic. Through my A-Level English Literature course I have gained an appreciation for writers' work, especially those who use their own or others' experiences, so that each word on the page is with the most self-awareness and expression.

I've always been an avid supporter of raising awareness for mental health, sexuality, body positivity, feminist issues and any other struggles people may face in a day to day life - and how people, social media and our own brains can have a huge impact on our emotions and feelings of ourself and other people.

I hope my writing can create a safe space for those who need somewhere to feel valued, understood and represented. For anybody who is struggling, please do not hesitate to seek help for something you may feel is small. Nothing is too small. Your value on this Earth is far too important.
