FRANCISCAN CHARITIES INC.

Co-founded by Gina Ricciardi, spouse of Managing Partner Michael Ricciardi, Franciscan Charities began in 2005, in response to a call for help. A handful of Newark’s most needy were gathered in the basement of St. Ann’s, a nearly-abandoned church in the West Ward. Since then, St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen has become the hub for Franciscan Charities and its ministries, providing over 75,000 meals per year. With the help of its ministries, clients have completed job training and found employment. Others have received medical attention, HIV testing, and addiction counseling.
