With the sacred responsibility parents have to guide, teach, protect and love their children, we offer this book as a tool for greater communication. A safe place where children can express what they may not be able to share in word.
When our children were young, we placed a notebook on the floor next to their bedroom doors. These notebooks became a place to share what was on their heart. Started because their dad was gone a lot with work, they became a source of greater communication.
When dad got home, no matter how late, he would respond to each message. The top of the page was their picture, question or story and the bottom of the page was dad's expression of love.
One daughter wrote that she didn’t have anyone to eat lunch with. Knowing what she was facing opened up a discussion of understanding and ideas to help.
Parents, we have to give our children our attention. If you find yourself not able to be at all the crossroads, using this book will help keep communication..

Carla and Kurtis live in Nashville, Tennessee where they have raised their 5 children.
Carla and Kurtis first met in 1994. They spent a year and a half communicating through letters while Carla was on a service mission in Quito, Ecuador and Kurtis was working at Cooper & Lybrand in Boston, Massachusetts.
They married in 1996 and started their life together in Boston. Over the next decade they would bring 5 children into their family, moving from Boston to Michigan, to Finland, to Missouri, and then in 2007 to Nashville, Tennessee.
At the very beginning of their marriage, Carla and Kurtis decided they wanted their home to be a place of peace and understanding. They attribute continued efforts to effectively communicate as a key factor in maintaining a peaceful home.
"Nighttime Notes" was inspired and helped Carla and Kurtis communicate on another level with their kids. It helped the big and little kids. They all had another place to share their needs. We hope it helps you too!
