A child is an ongoing work in progress. He is a pearl encased in an oyster, waiting for someone to discover the wonder within. He is a lump of clay waiting to be transformed into an exquisite work of art by a sculptor. He is a blank easel, waiting for a painter to transform him into a work of art by painting on him with various colors.
The child in our story is similar to the pearl, lump of clay, and blank easel I mentioned earlier. He is a shy, introverted child who dislikes being the center of attention. He is afraid of making mistakes for fear of being teased or bullied.
It was fate that a kind teacher was able to discover the child's talent. The teacher was able to bring out the best in him by providing constant guidance and encouragement. The child was able to break free from his shell, emerging victorious and self-assured.

The author, Jake A. Concepcion, hails from San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines. An educator, he is currently teaching at San Antonio Central Elementary School as Master Teacher II. He took his degree of Bachelor of Elementary Education at Magsaysay Memorial College.
