The story centers around a young dragon who is peculiarly different from other dragons and suffers the usual peer persecution as the youngsters learn their necessary skills to bring them into adulthood, including the most secret of all---how dragons can breathe fire. But, it is the very fact of our young dragon's difference that in the end makes him the hero. The moral is that sometimes being different means being great.

John lives on a ranch in Arkansas. He spends much of his time tending to his cattle and other various animals that go along with being a rancher. He is always concocting stories in his head while riding his tractor and many have been put on paper. This is the first children's story he has undertaken and was inspired by a conversation with his wife and a granddaughter's imagination.
