Jim and Claire Herbert live in Santa Cruz, CA.
Jim is a retired auto collision repair shop owner who now enjoys using
his skills of working with metal, and his love for the ocean and surfing, to
create sculptures that blend those passions. Each character in the book was hand sculpted out of recycled metal!

Claire has been teaching language arts to middle school students for
over 30 years. She wanted to write a book that would not only bring
Jim's sculptures to life, but also to encourage reading aloud to children.
