The High Desert Museum and the Deschutes Public Library, with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, hosted a family science workshop series called Into the Wild. This workshop series provided a unique opportunity for adult caregivers and their children to discover the natural world around them and to spark their imagination and sense of adventure.
Families with children ages 8 through 10 learned together in hands-on workshops where they uncovered the mysteries of the intriguing carnivores hidden in our local forests. They worked with wildlife biologists both in the classroom and in the field, learning how to identify animals in the wild, how to track their movements and explore how they survive. Then, they shared the stories of their discoveries by publishing books about their experiences. We hope you enjoy their stories!
