This book was written and illustrated by Kindergarten Students at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning as a culminating project at the end of a year long, in depth study on Birds. The students did four case studies on what makes a bird a bird, adaptations of birds, bird habitats, and young birds and eggs.
The students build a bird habitat outside their school complete with bird feeders and participated in Project Feeder Watch throughout the year, counting and identifying birds.
They recently built and hung bird houses at their local parks. The students also were the proud "Parents" of baby chicks that just hatched from their incubated eggs.
This Book was written at the end of the year as a way to pull their knowledge of a variety of birds together in a fun alphabet book. The students discovered that there was a bird name that started with each letter of the alphabet. The students studied other alphabet books and decided that they would like to write one of their own. Enjoy!
