Jesus tells the parable of a man who has two sons. The younger son asks his father to give him his portion of the family estate.
He quickly goes off ot a far country when his father quietly gives him what he wants.
As loving parents, we're constantly looking out for our children.s future. When parents do well in life, they set aside what they deem as valuable gifts for their children. They carefully choose what each will receive as their inheritance at the end of the parents life, By family tradition, 'The Prodigal' knew exactly what his inheritance was.
Therefore he demands his portion NOW!
Today's Prodigals are no different. They too demand their freedom. Often they want to run away from their loving parents protection and careful guidance. They run, without having any kind of inheritance in hand or wisdom to use it wisely if they have money. They scurry away quickly unprepared for the pitfalls of this world. What are their demands? why do they run?
Does the loving father or mother's character change towards their soon to be 'Prodigal'
Hidden resentment rose up within the birth right older brother, even though his inheritance was intact. The loving father longed for his younger son, wondering will he ever see him again, will he ever return?
