This book is the story of an American Family whose ancestors immigrated to America from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Germany in the early 1600-1700s. Charles & Sarah (Ragains) Seneff were born in Southern Indiana in 1881. The book tells their story of raising 11 children on a rural farm, and follows the lives of their children as they marry and raise their own families (until 2024) . The book traces the history of their ancestors from Charlemagne in the Holy Roman Empire, through the medieval crusades, to their leadership roles in the Prostestant Reformation in Germany and the Puritan Reformation in England. The book includes the family's early arrival in Colonial America, their fights for independence and freedom, and their commitment to freedom of religion, good health care, and educational opportunities. The book is filled with stories of people across the centuries who through their courage and commitment to their values changed their communities and sometimes the course of history.

Sharon K. (Mills) Ostwald, PhD, RN, Professor Emerita, is editor of this book about her grandparents, Charles and Sarah (Ragains) Seneff, their ancestors and their descendants. Many of the stories come directly from the autobiographical writings of Sharon's mother, Vera Ellen (Seneff) Mills, genealogical records from her aunt, Kathleen (Seneff) Abel, and oral stories told by Sharon's maternal grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth (Ragains) Seneff, that were recorded, and transcribed by Kathy Abel. In addition, many of Charles & Sarah's grandchildren contributed stories and pictures of their lives and memories growing up as a part of the large extended Seneff family.
