I saw your book and I was wondering if you could help me. I want to publish my book Angels it is still a work in progress but I am reaching the end and want to know whether I should send it to a publisher because it is a Christian based novel or go the self publishing route...Did it cost anything to get it published on amazon? how did you do it? Sorry for so many questions...

I was confused whether to self-publish or send my work to a company at first, too. I decided to go the self-publishing route because it didn't cost me anything. I used Createspace, which guaranteed that my book would be available on Amazon automatically. Basically, self-publishing is free, unless you want to buy extra packages that will market your book and make it available in bookstores and whatnot.

I also know of some great Christian publishing companies such as Xulon Press, but they cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Crazy! That's why I veered away from sending my book to a publisher. I didn't want to have to pay a lot of money.

The choice is really up to you and how much publicity you want your book to receive. Self-publishing usually won't bring you a lot of sales, whereas if you send your book to a publishing company they will help you market it and show it to a greater audience.

Wow, I'm jealous. I want to self-publish but I also want to send my book in to a publishing company. But congrats! That's so cool!! :) Anyway, I was wondering if you know if it costs anything to send your book in to a publishing company?? Congrats on your big accomplishment!!!!

Thank you! :D This is my first time being published, and since I went the self-publishing route, I don't know too much about publishing companies. I don't think it costs to send your manuscript to a company (though I could be wrong). The money comes in when you pay for a cover, design, etc.

Createspace is very different from Bookemon. You can only upload your finished book as a Word document (.docx) or PDF (.pdf). Basically, Createspace is for putting your book on Amazon and other retailers once it's completed.

Hi there! Congrats! I also am trying to self-publish on amazon.....did you use Create Space to do it? Did you upload your bookemon pdf. file directly? Also, were you able to create a hard bound copy as well as soft and kindle ebook for purchase?

Thanks! Yes, I did use Createspace. And instead of downloading my Bookemon PDF, I copied and pasted the text onto Microsoft Word. Then I uploaded my .docx file to Createspace.

I was considering making a Kindle ebook version, but since my book has a lot of pictures, I decided not to. Createspace makes it very easy to convert your book to Kindle instantly, though.

So in the end I just published my book as a paperback. Kindle ebook and paperback are the only options Createspace offers. If you check out the following link it gives you some information on how to create a hardcover copy with Createspace: https://www.createspace.com/en/community/message/175372
