About Me
Having taught high school English for thirty years, Ms. Maydak currently resides in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, where she enjoys gardening, reading, and writing story poems, which feature her best friend's daughters, Mara and Lena.

She has had some 100 poems published in over 50 literary magazines nationwide and also has published a set of poetry post cards, "Postscripts," and a chapbook, "ten: poems." In addition, she has received honors in 20 poetry competition, one of which included publication of her chapbook, "because the death of a rose," as the first-place prize.

She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women and is listed in "A Directory of Women Writing," "A Directory of Poets and Fiction Writers in Pennsylvania," and "The Directory of Poets and Writers."

In addition to reading her poetry at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, at the Lionwalk Center for the Performing Arts, and at the fine arts exhibit sponsored by the Creative Arts Council of Mon-Valley Artists, the Pittsburgh poet was the subject of a personal interview and reading for the Golden Triangle Radio Information Service, which was broadcast by WDUQ radio.

In her capacity as teacher and poet, Ms. Maydak has also worked with the PIttsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation and with the American Wind Symphony during its "Journey with the Arts," and served as a consultant for McDougal, Littell and Company, educational publishers, in the preparation of one of their literature textbooks.
