The author was born in Minneapolis, MN, but grew up in Ellsworth, a small town in west, central Wisconsin.

The author began tracing his family roots in 1976 as a means by which he could introduce his children and grandchildren to the paternal side of the family. This book is the result of an effort that extended over 30 + years.
