Born during the Depression in 1929, Mary Marguerite Russell had an adventurous childhood in her native Greensboro, North Carolina. Transplanted to Miami at the age of ten, where her father was able to find work, the adventures continued for Marguerite. Married at the age of seventeen to her high school sweetheart, she and her husband Allen raised two children: Cody Allen Stanley, Jr. (who later gave them three beautiful grandchildren, Allen III, Melissa Louise and Jamie Lynn) and Kandace Ann. Marguerite was a stay-at-home Mom afer Cody's birth and loved every minute of it. She used to say that the first day of school was the saddest day of the year for her. In later years, when she had time to herself, Marguerite began to put her memories and thoughts down on paper. Following the passing of her beloved Allen in 1994, Marguerite left us in October of 2000, leaving behind several notebooks of her stories. Nearly eleven years later, her stories (and those by family and friends) have at last been complied into this amusing and poignant collection.
