Erick and Sue, like many Whidbey islanders, are California transplants, having purchased their home on 3 enchanted acres in Freeland in 2007. Originally from Seattle, Sue has always had family connections to the Northwest. She teaches and practices Heaven & Earth Reiki in their dedicated sacred space, The Reiki Sanctuary. Erick enjoys working with teens as a youth advocate and mentor, as well as his involvement with local theater and comedy groups. Enchanted with Whidbey from the beginning, they take their Sony DSC-H5 with them everywhere. As the photos began piling up and friends began asking “When are you going to publish these?” they realized how much they wanted to share the beauty, character and magic of this place that is the home of their hearts … Whidbey Island.
Their desire is to capture a “quintessential essence” of the experience of Whidbey, with the realization that this window frames but a few moments in a kaleidoscopic world. There is no such thing as an “ultimate” statement about any subject; theirs is simply a humble attempt to gift the viewer with the heart and spirit of this place that they, and many others, call home... whether for a few days, years, or a lifetime.
