The leaves crunched under his fast feet. The wind whipped past his ears and branches brushed past as Damien ran through the woods. He was a speeding bullet, invisible to the human eye. He was unsure what exactly he had been running from tonight, all he knew was that it could not catch him. It had been like this for a long time; he had been running for centuries. Ever since the first stories, myths and legends about vampires had been created, he had been running in fear of being discovered. There were so many theories, he knew; from vampires burning in the sun to vampires that sparkle. Who the hell came up with that theory? Damien wondered. It was true of course that vampires had at one time burned in the sun many centuries ago, but this was the twenty first century; a century of greater technology and knowledge. Damien finally stopped running, he was sure that no one, or thing, was still following him now. He walked calmly through the dark paths of trees brushing his leather gloved..
