About the Book

Robeson-Baker House (1933)
The house is a Gordon-Van Tine kit house of the Idlewood style from the 1932 catalogue. The home was built by William Bartram Robeson (1883-1968) and Lillian Farquhar Robeson (1882-1958) in 1933. W. Bartram was a surveyor and cotton factor and a direct decedent of Col Thomas Robeson, name sake of Robeson County. He was born on Ashwood Plantation (of Col William Bartram fame) near Carvers Creek NC. Lillian was a native of Halifax NS and a Professor of Violin at Flora MacDonald College with a graduate degree from the Leipzig Conservatory. House was later owned from 1968 to 2000 by Albert B Baker (1925-1999) an accountant and Ann S Baker (1925–2001).
