The Proposal

The totally irrational belief one can succeed in marriage without any more education than the emotional experience of having fallen in love, borders upon the absurd. A good marriage does not become ready-made just because two people are in love. It can be shocking to both people that marriage has to be worked on continually. The art of communication is much more complex than driving a car or programming a computer and yet we expect a young couple to establish a happy marriage and know how to communicate without the slightest preparation.(Art of Communication) . I’m calling these collections of advice, The Proposal, since proposal is defined as: to offer or suggest a plan. For years, I have been collecting dos and don’ts in my head of what I must share with my adult children to possibly help them in their future marriages.
