The idea for Yak & Lala came from my neighbors kid Maisy. She was two years old when my black cat Jack and I lived next door. She couldn't pronounce our names, so it would always come out as Yak and Lala. I wanted to leave her with something to remember us by, but couldn't draw a thing. I asked my nieces and nephews if they would help me draw the pictures and the Adventures of Yak & Lala came to be.
